Habitat

They are found in coniferous forests, often in an all fir forest.

Description

The bark is smooth with sap bubbles. It gets rough and flaky as the tree gets older. The needles are flat, shiny, dark green above with white stripes below. They are ½ - 1 inch long. The purplish-green cones sit upright on the branch. They are 3-inches long and tube-shaped.
