Found on rocky hillsides.

Description

They bloom in spring and summer with bright purple-blue flowers from leaf axils. They are a simple stem (no branching) and can reach more than 2 feet tall.

Taxonomic Features (Traits) for Identification

Flower Type: Flowers regular with 5 petals growing from the axils (where they attach to stem) of the top few leaves
Flower Color: Purplish-blue
Leaf Arrangement: Alternate
Plant Type: Wildflower (Medium - 6-30 inches)
Leaf Type: Small, heart-shaped, toothed and clasping stem
Stem: Unbranching
