Habitat

Found in shallow areas of ponds and waterways.

Description

Tiny, yellow flowers are all compacted together on the top of a long stem (spadix) surrounded by 2-3 large, showy leaves. The plant is often found floating. Up to 2' tall - blooms in spring.

Taxonomic Features (Traits) for Identification

Flower Type: Tiny flowers (too small to see clearly) clustered into a compact spike (spadix)
Flower Color: Yellow
Leaf Arrangement: From around the base
Plant Type: Wildflower (Medium - 1-2 feet)
Leaf Type: Oblong, entire (smooth edged) and growing on long stalks (often right out of the water)
