www.exploringnature.org is an educational resource and will protect user privacy.
COLLECTING AND TRACKING INFORMATION
We collect educator names, school addresses, email, and how many students attend each school so that we can provide information that suits the educational needs of our user demographic. (i.e. if 100 schools from New Zealand register to use the site we research and develop a section on New Zealand animals to serve their students.) This enables us to know who is using the site and how to serve their educational needs most effectively and keep them (you) coming back!
WHAT WE DO WITH COLLECTED INFORMATION
We also will send occasional emails to let educators know what new information or activities have been posted that relates to their geographic area or that they requested or that meets curriculum guidelines.
The only other eyes that will view your information (and only school name, address and email – never billing information when purchasing from store) are our site sponsors. They view user information to see who uses the site and decide whether it benefits them to be seen by that demographic and hence whether to support the site.
We may, when recruiting a sponsor (remember sponsors keep the site free for the schools), produce a report on the demographics of our users. This greatly improves our chances of obtaining and maintaining funding for the site.
We reserve the right to use or disclose any information without notice or consent as needed to satisfy any law, regulation or legal request; to conduct investigations of consumer complaints or possible breaches of law; to protect the integrity of our site and our property; to protect the safety of our visitors or others; to fulfill your requests; or to cooperate in any legal investigation.
You should be aware that if you voluntarily disclose information online (whether through exploringnature.org or any other service available online), it can be collected and used by others. This has nothing to do with exploringnature.org but can affect you. For example, if you use chat, forums, bulletin boards, e-mail or post personal information online, you may receive unsolicited messages from others. Exploringnature.org has no control over this use of your information. Always use caution online with personal information!
CONTROLLING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
A user may, at any time, change, correct, modify or delete any personal information they may have provided to exploringnature.org by reregistering or letting us know at sheri@exploringnature.org.
SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Exploringnature.org is a small group of science educators, biomedical illustrators, zoo vets and webmasters. No one here will misuse your information!
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Much of exploringnature.org will be used by children. Nothing on this site will serve any other purpose than science education.
We do ship prizes for quiz questions. This will go to the student’s registered school classroom, never a home address, unless specifically requested by a parent. With home-schooled children prize information is given voluntarily by the site-registered educating parent.
