They are found all over the world. There are more than 1,000 kinds of grasshoppers just in the U.S.
Habitat
They live in fields, yards, farms and on roadsides.
Body Traits
They can be green, yellow-brown body and wings with large back legs for jumping, though they come in all shapes, colors and sizes.
Habits
They can fly and will fly short distances to escape predators. Some fly a long ways.
Diet
They eat plants, so are garden and farm pests.
Reproduction
Females lay eggs in the soil in foam that makes them stick together into a “pod.”
